The TP-BT-PLUS Bluetooth optical probe by Tespro is created to efficiently and extensively communicate with meters, and uses both Classic Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy. It is based on a low-power Chip set and has a long battery life and rapid charging through a Type-C interface. Its IP54 protection and LED indicator as well as the ability to update via Bluetooth makes it reliable in its work under different conditions.

Reliable Optical Communication for Smart Metering

The modern AMI systems need to have reliable and consistent data capture at the meter level. Reading of meter was slow and prone to errors.

The optical probes of Tespro such as the TP-BT and USB series allowed automatic retrieval of data through the optical ports and were compatible with a wide range of meter brands and protocols. Bluetooth and USB models were flexible both in the field and desktop.

Product Case

One of the largest Southeast Asian utility companies, based in Malaysia, Singapore, and Philippines, had to deal with such challenges as the disjointed meter standards, the lack of effectiveness in in-premises data collection and the necessity to create system integration that is more specific to particular needs, which impeded smart energy management.

 

The company sought a flexible, developer-friendly solution to bring together its multi-type meter network and develop a customized energy monitoring platform that can serve the different regional requirements and simplify field operations.

 

It was finally broken with the TP-BT-Plus Bluetooth optical probe by Tespro which is a versatile and customizable one. It has BLE 5.4+SPP two-way communication, and it can operate with various international protocols, hence it is compatible with the electricity, water, and gas meters of the client.

 

 Its advantage is in its full BLE SDK and OTA SDK packages which enable the development team of the client to implement the features of the probe in their App and energy management system under the shortest time possible.

 

The utility provider was impressed with the adaptability and customer service, which saw it eventually buy 6,300 TP-BT-Plus probes in order to use them in residential zones, business districts and industrial parks.

 

The duplicated key design of the probes enabled technicians to record single-meter data in 1.8 seconds, and 32 automatically stored Task Obis lists were recorded to identify automatic meter types and protocol matching, which eliminated manual input errors.
