Reliable Optical Communication for Smart Metering
In modern AMI systems, there is a demand of a stable and precise data capture on a meter level. Meter reading was a lengthy and inaccurate task that was done manually.
The optical probes of Tespro such as the TP-BT and USB series were able to facilitate automatic data read through the optical port and supported many different meter brands and protocols. Bluetooth and USB models were flexible to use both out in the field and at the desktop.
Case
Product Case
A rural and suburban energy provider had trouble with the range of data collection, as the tools at its disposal had a technician standing directly next to the meter, and it was not effective to track scattered electric and water meters in open space and lower-density communities. This resulted in sluggish data revision and more operational trouble among teams on the field.
This was solved in TP-RF Optical Probe introduced by Tespro that has a long-range RF communication feature, which can capture the energy data up to 100 meters distance in open areas without the need to be on site. The dual-purpose design (RF + USB) also made it fit perfectly with the already installed backend system of the client, without additional adapters.
The probe had a high magnetic adhesion force giving it the capacity to mount on other meters without tools swiftly, and its robust construction and IP54 stability level could endure conditions in the outside world and utility rooms, respectively. This made the process of remote monitoring easier, allowing the team to be more effective in the management of extensive energy resources.
