Product Introduction
TP-18 slim optical scanning probe is an instrument that is designed and manufactured by Tespro China. TP-18 is intended to be used in testing simoutanous meter active and reactive accuracy. TP-18 has the capability of detecting light as well as the infrared light pulse emitted by LED and transforming it into electric pulse.
It is made with narrow dimension of 10mm and high optical sensitivity. TP-18 can be adjusted to different calibration equipment, such as, high precision standard meters that are made by EMH, meter production testing equipment used by large meter manufacturers, and On-site testing equipment.
Strong Compatibility
Senses the lights of various colors and wavelengths, transforms light pulses into electric pulses. Supports 5/12/24 VDC, and has multiple connectors.
Simultaneous Acquisition Of Active And Reactive Pulse
Simultaneously obtains active and reactive pulses, high in precision, high in practicality, stable performance, and easily governed.
High Sensitivity
It has 200ms pulse width minimum, 5kHz frequency maximum. Perceives a variety of colors of light, is not detrimental to interference, can be used both outside and inside.
Excellent Performance in Harsh Environment
Designed using the highest quality of enclosure, high quality magnet, and cable. Performs excellently under excessive conditions such as the summer sun or winter snowstorms.

Reliable Optical Communication for Smart Metering
The modern AMI systems must capture data at the meter level in a stable and accurate manner. Reading meter manually was also very time consuming and inaccurate.
The optical probes such as TP-BT and USB series provided by Tespro allowed automatic data acquisition through optical ports, and supported a wide range of meter brands and protocols. Both field and desktop applications were made flexible with Bluetooth and USB models.
Case
Product Case
A field service team for a regional utility faced recurring frustrations with energy data collection: many of the electricity, gas, and thermal meters in their service area lacked magnetic mounting points, making it difficult to secure standard probes. Technicians had to rely on makeshift fixes like tape or clamps, which were time-consuming to apply, unstable during use, and risked damaging meter surfaces—all while standard-sized probes struggled to reach recessed LED pulse emitters on compact models.
Tespro’s TP-18 Slim Scanning Probe resolved these pain points with a purpose-built design for non-magnetic meters. At just 10mm wide, its ultra-slim profile slides easily into tight recesses around LED panels, ensuring unobstructed pulse detection. The included TP-GS2 supporting fixture is the key to hassle-free mounting: it clamps securely to any meter (plastic, metal, or composite) without magnets, providing stable positioning in seconds—no tools, tape, or permanent modifications required.
With the TP-18, the team transformed their data collection workflow. Secure, tool-free mounting eliminated setup delays and instability, while the slim design ensured reliable signal capture even on compact, recessed meters. For non-magnetic energy assets, the TP-18 delivers the ultimate in convenience—making every on-site collection task faster, simpler, and more dependable.
