Product Introduction

TP-12 optical scanning probe can sense both light and IR(Infrared) light pulses emitted by LED, and then convert them to electric pulses. TP-12 is designed with two power supply modes, one is powered by +5V which is supplied by outer power source, and LED indicator on top of probe is enabled in this mode. The other power source is +3.3V which is suitable for battery power system on very low consumption. LED indicator on top of probe is disabled in this mode.

Reliable Optical Communication for Smart Metering

Modern AMI systems require stable and accurate data capture at the meter level. Manual meter reading was time-consuming and error-prone.

Tespro's optical probes, including the TP-BT and USB series, enabled automatic data retrieval via optical ports, supporting various meter brands and protocols. Bluetooth and USB models offered flexibility for both field and desktop use.

Product Case

A solar energy project developer struggled with energy data collection for remote battery-powered monitoring systems—existing probes consumed too much power, draining device batteries quickly and requiring frequent maintenance visits to off-grid solar installations. This disrupted consistent tracking of solar energy output and system performance.

Tespro’s TP-12 Mini Optical Probe addressed this with its ultra-low power design, consuming less than 1μA in standby and minimal pulse current. Its dual power supply options seamlessly integrated with the project’s battery-powered devices, eliminating excessive energy drain.

The compact, lightweight probe and flexible mounting options simplified installation on solar energy meters, while its ability to sense light and IR pulses ensured reliable data capture. This solution enabled long-term, low-maintenance energy monitoring for the remote solar project.
